Magazine ranks the country as 'most popular' destination for adventure tourism

The International Business Times magazine placed Costa Rica at the top of its annual ranking of "most popular” destinations to practice adventure tourism.

Our country tops the list of 10 destinations. Our country was followed (in descending order) by South Africa, the Galapagos Islands (Ecuador), New Zealand, Australia, Alaska, Kenya, Botswana, Peru and the mountains of Colorado (USA.). In the case of Costa Rica, the publication, based on surveys of Travel advisors at Virtuoso, a leading luxury travel network, says: "Costa Rica offers a travel experience ranging from white water rafting adventures to rock rappelling, hiking, bicycling and much more.

The magazine even describes one of the many attractions of our country.” People swim in the Celeste river waterfall at Tenorio Volcano National Park in Upala, Costa Rica. The blue color of the lagoon, formed from chemical reactions of calcium carbonate and sulfur.

It adds: "The site is surrounded by an amazing rainforest of 12,819 hectares. The Celeste River carries its color for a distance of 36 km".
